The Dave Collett Trio

The Dave Collett Trio have played at the White Horse since March 1994 when landlord Dave Franklin introduced the trio at the pub. Their weekly Tuesday sessions have grown in popularity and regular devotees now come from far and wide.

The trio started its musical life in Thornbury at the Black Horse in the late 60's on alternate Sundays. Several bassists played with the band during this period including Geoff Weldrake.

In the late 70's the trio moved to The Plough on Bedminster
Down Road, via a couple of years at The Coach and Horses in St Judes. This was the point at which Geoff Miller joined up - 'on loan' from the Bath City Jazzmen - making the band we have known and loved for so long.

The trio left The Plough in November 1993 and moved in at The White Horse a few months later. They celebrated their 10th anniversary at the White Horse on 30th March 2004.

Just after their 11th anniversary, in early April 2005, Geoff Miller retired from the DC3. More recently, Dave Hibberd - drummer and the instigator of the DC3's White Horse tenure - retired because of ill health and has since passed away.

Maurice Everson has taken over as bassist with the DC3 and Bob Watkins has replaced Dave as drummer.
